The keratinase is produced by submerged
fermentation of Aspergillus niger followed by purification and formulation. It’s an aggressive protease
with broad specificity. The enzyme is capable of degrading water soluble and
insoluble proteins like collagen, whey protein, casein and especially keratin
into water soluble smaller peptides and amino acid, outperforming most
non-keratin degrading proteases. Often used to pre-treat keratin materials like
feather to produce feed additive, or added into feed to improve protein
digestion.
